Does the Xiaomi 15 support USB-C to HDMI?

Yes, it works.

The Xiaomi 15 supports DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB-C. Plug a USB-C to HDMI cable into a TV and it outputs video.

Confirmed by the manufacturer's documentation.

Notebookcheck's review lists a USB 3.2 port with DisplayPort in its connections table and measured fast external SSD transfer speeds, consistent with the port also carrying wired video output.

How to connect the Xiaomi 15 to a TV

  1. Get a USB-C to HDMI cable rated for 4K 60Hz. A 2 metre cable is the practical maximum. See the cable guide.
  2. Plug the HDMI end into the TV first, then the USB-C end into the phone. Switch the TV to that HDMI input.
  3. The phone screen mirrors immediately.
  4. Open the USB-C to HDMI app to play photos, videos and music in a TV layout, pick 1080p or 4K, and toggle audio.

Streaming services such as Netflix and Prime Video block HDMI output on most Android phones through HDCP. Local files and your own photos are not affected. Details in the black screen guide.

Frequently asked questions

What cable do I need for the Xiaomi 15?
Any USB-C to HDMI cable or adapter that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and is rated for 4K 60Hz. You do not need a powered hub or a brand-specific cable.
Does the Xiaomi 15 need an app to connect to a TV?
No app is needed for basic screen mirroring. The USB-C to HDMI app adds a TV layout for photos, videos and music, resolution control and an audio toggle.
Why does my Xiaomi 15 show a black screen on the TV?
Check the TV is on the right HDMI input, try another HDMI port, and remove any adapter chain. Streaming apps such as Netflix block output through HDCP and will show black on purpose; local files play fine.
Can the Xiaomi 15 output 4K over HDMI?
Most phones with DisplayPort Alt Mode output at least 1080p, and USB 3.x models usually reach 4K.
