Do Motorola Razr series phones support USB-C to HDMI?
Only the Ultra models. The Razr 40 Ultra, 50 Ultra and 60 Ultra (Razr+ in the US) and the Razr 2022 support USB-C to HDMI. The base Razr 40, 50 and 60 do not.
Motorola splits the Razr line the same way as the Edge line: the expensive model gets a USB 3.1 port with DisplayPort and wired Ready For, the cheaper one gets USB 2.0 and wireless only.

What to do with a Motorola Razr series phone
- If your model is marked Supported above, get a USB-C to HDMI cable rated 4K 60Hz. See the cable guide.
- Plug the TV in first, then the phone, and select the HDMI input. Open the app to cast photos, videos and music in a TV layout.
- If your model is marked Not supported, skip the cable and use the Browser Cast mode in the app over Wi-Fi.
The full explanation is in how DisplayPort Alt Mode works.
Frequently asked questions
- Which Motorola Razr series models support USB-C to HDMI?
- Razr 60 Ultra, Razr 50 Ultra, Razr 40 Ultra, Razr (2022). The rest of the series does not.
- Why does my Motorola Razr series phone charge but not show on the TV?
- Charging uses the power pins of the USB-C port. Video needs DisplayPort Alt Mode on the high-speed pins, which these models do not have. The cable is working; the phone cannot send video.
- Can an app enable HDMI output on a Motorola Razr series phone?
- No. Wired video output is decided by the phone's chipset and port wiring. The alternative is wireless: the Browser Cast mode in the USB-C to HDMI app, a Chromecast, or the TV's built-in casting.
- What cable works with the Motorola Razr series models that do support it?
- Any USB-C to HDMI cable or adapter rated for 4K 60Hz. No brand-specific cable is needed.
